The first thing you read on the watchtower.org site is: "This is the authoritative web site about the beliefs, teachings, and activities of Jehovah's Witnesses."

Now, we all know the 1914/generation teaching was discarded six years ago!
So why do we find the following on the official site?

"How long a time period would these last days prove to be? Jesus said regarding the era that would experience the "beginning of pangs of distress" from 1914 onward: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur." (Matthew 24:8, 34-36) Thus, all the features of the last days must take place within the lifetime of one generation, the generation of 1914. So some people who were alive in 1914 will still be alive when this system comes to its end. That generation of people is now very advanced in years, indicating that there is not much time left before God brings this present system of things to an end."

Scroll down to the sub-heading "How Close Are We?"

    UNBELIEVABLE!

Medical advances? But seriously, the gf's grandmother is 93 and just got her third divorce. She said she "just couldn't take that man any more". hehe. I'm sure there's still hope by some that the longevity-extending research being *contributed to civilization* by *hardworking scientists* will help them not have to backpeddle too much on 1914.

the library section of the site seems to contain most of the brochures and tracts published within the last 20 years or so and a bunch of magazines published within the last 5 years. so, its unavoidable that old doctrine is in there. i can find the generation teaching in a number of spots on the site's library. likewise, these brochures with the old teaching are still being 'featured' at the doors.
