2007 starts off with a bang

Its 5:25am here, and I think I haven't had 30 minutes sleep all night. The next door neighbors shot fire works off for 3 hours before midnight and another hour after wards.

My husband had to film a function and got home at 1:30 after a tire blew out on the highway.

My oldest son came in at 3:00 am with a broken nose. It looks terrible. He was the only sober one at the party and some one sucker punched him over a tiff from 5 years ago about a girl. He drove himself to the emergency room.

His girl friend showed up at 4:00 to baby him and take him to her place.

I'm waiting for my younger son to show up, can't imagine whats next.

I had the same problem with my neighbours - they were quiet until midnight and then set fireworks off, started the drunken shouting and turned their music up full blast. I stayed up chatting on Gabbly till about 2.30 and managed to get to sleep around 3 - the music was still going

Thanks everyone. I'm extremely worried about my son's nose. It is looking crooked, and one eye is swollen totally shut. The doctors can't do anything until the swelling goes down in about 5 days. I hope he won't need surgery. He doesn't have insurance (just started a new job) and already has allergy problems and nose bleeds. This can only make it worse.

I know looks are not suppose to matter, but he does have that going for him and it would be terrible if his nose is ruined.

LIke everyone has pointed out, the year can only get better from here.

Just an update. My son filed a police report with 5 witnesses to the event. He was told by the officer that because of the heavy case load, the District Attorney would probably let it fall through the cracks. He was taken aback at his face and really felt bad.

I have an attorney friend that I use to work for who has quite a few connections so I will be calling him tomorrow.

I just can't believe you can break someone's bones and not have to pay.
