No resurrection for unborn babies and lost embryos - WTBCS

In the late 80s or early 90s there was an item dealing with Job and how he wished he had been an undiscovered pregnancy.

The WT basically said that the unborn would not get a resurrection.

I am digging in the mist here, but I remember talking to a friend and we agreed that if the unborn were not of value to Jehovah so he didn't give them a resurrection, why was the WT$ so fussed over IVF and other treatments involving the unborn.

I am flagging this up cos Skeeter wanted to know my source - and I no longer have most of my litterature.

I sent skeeter the info in a pm. But another as important, related question:

Why is abortion considered murdering a child if that same child is not considered alive enough to be resurrected?

    That's my question, too.

    excellent question.

Great question. Also, (and I know this is almost the same) but why could causing an abortion, even by accident, in Israel result in the taking of a

Person's life when the fetus is not itself considered a person? The whole point of demanding a person's life was prophetic of the ransom, like for like.

If the worth of a fetus is equal to a person's life, why then is it not entitled to the same reward, namely the resurrection?

    This always bothered me.

I have said on other occasions that in Israel a child was property. A father could sell his son into slavery to help[ pay a debt.

A daughter would fetch a high price if she was sought after and sexy. At marriage the father was compensated for the loss of his daughter's work for the family.

Losing a foetus was therefore like having an investment stolen. Knowing how little value was placed on the life of a child (they could be offered up for gang rape by the father) it was obvious that losing an unborn daughter if not legislated against would mean that fathers would have fewer bargaining chips when attacked by a gay mob. (As in Sodom)

IN poor families also, the prospect of another mouth to feed might lead to more abortions, reducing the breeding base of the tribe, so a fear of killing the unborn had to be instilled in the people.

That was reason # 2 as to why I left those jerks.
