And if so were you instrumental in keeping negative JW publicity from reaching the public? Did you find yourself editing out comments that werent favorable to the JW's?-----Im wondering if the majority of newspapers and TV stations dont have at least one JW on their editorial staff who helps protect things for the WT.

Sounds like something the Scientologists do.

Yes, I did. And no, no editorial staff I've known would allow a JW to favor or protect the WT. They're just not that important. IMO, it's general religious tolerance in this country that prevents the media from negative publicity of the Witnesses. They don't want to seem harsh or critical of anyone's faith. (No one wants a lawsuit, either.)

JWs would have major conscience issues anyway. How would they handle holiday ads, for one thing? Or political reporting? Or a piece on gay marriage?

Other problems are the long, round-the-clock hours and tight deadlines. "Excuse me, I must leave for my meeting now," does not cut it. News happens 24/7. Deadlines won't get pushed ahead because you had to get your hours in for field service, or attend a 3-day convention.

I have about 18 years experience in publishing and advertising as a graphic designer, editorial assistant, and production manager. Have yet to meet even one JW.

Many left-wing commie editors, but no JWs! :–)

I knew of one JW lady who worked for the local TV station in ohio (behind the scenes) and I also knew a JW radio D.J (female) for a country station. Also one really older lady at the kingdom hall in KY supposedly at one time owned the newspaper there.
