The WTS teaches that Adam's sin was rebellion against his Creator. It seems that all Adam did was make a choice.

If he ate of the tree he would die. He chose to eat. If anyone really rebelled it was Satan. Why does man pay a price for that

and Satan goes on living for thousands of years afterwards?

Do you believe that story is actually something that really happened?

Firstly I think the story is allegorical.

Secondly no it wasn't rebellion as that would not be logical. Why put a test in place that had no real point. Without a conscious decision to choose good and evil Adam could never have become any more than a naked gardner. It would be a gross injustice to God if we suggested that His plan was thwarted and that He hadn't banked on Adam's actions. As far as I can see the obvious answer is that Adam had to disobey to bring choice into the world, God's gift was to introduce death as the cessation of the worst consequences of choice and the chance to return to with knowledge.

If you were playing part in this allegory would you eat the 'apple'?

in relation to the myth he is a part of, yes. and good for "him".

in relation to the history of the world as modern humans are aware of it, no. i highly doubt he even existed. i mean, do you think you are related to him genetically?

and the fruit? probably a banana.

But it wouldn't have been a yellow banana as we know them. As that is a fairly recent product.

[Borg's Advocate]Enoch was seventh in line from Adam, therefore Adam could not have been allegorical. How is it possible to be seventh in line from an allegory?[/Borg's Advocate]

Satan couldn't be killed off as he was the main protagonist in the bible. You need a bad guy to boo in any good yarn. Adam was like the guy in action movies that's obviously gonna get killed off in the opening scenes. Also the curse on the snake to go about on it's belly is a bit lenient innit?

Maybe if god had made the fruit a durian fruit they might have not been tempted to eat it.
