    Tuesday

so I'm now about to be challenged on critisism of the bible. I bumped into an old friend on myspace and since I mentioned Historical Critisism of the bible as one of my interests he's calling me on it. I responded fairly dodging the question but I'm sure it's not going to be avoided at all. I remember reading articles on the subject quite a while ago and I'm looking for more references so I can brush up on everything. I'm looking for any articles or any websites that will deal with the different writers of Genesis, why they are considered different writers. I'm pretty set on the Flood debate because I've read talk origins site ad nauseum. I'm especially interested in any writings about the prophesies in Daniel which show that the prophesy was actually dealing with the Jews plight against their captors at that time, and any that deal with Revelation being a large metaphor to give the Christians hope in their persecution from the Roman government.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize to any christians on the board that may be offended by this material in advance.

    Thanks

Taking the flood legend literally is stupidity at it's bullshittiest worst, and they know it. Give it to him with both barrels.

Deus Mauzzim that is incredibly helpful. I was looking for the best place to start because whenever I was looking up historical bibical criticism it usually brought me to apologists sites, this gives me a better idea of what to search to get the information I'm looking for. I guess it's time to open up a can of bibical whoop-ass.

No thanks. It's a pleasure to help.

I usually start looking on the Wikipedia, then follow the links to scientific/educational sites from there. You might narrow your search to the .edu domain so you will get directly to university websites. In that way you prevent yourself from being bogged down in creationist nonsense.. they can't get their crap on university pages :)

    Trash them :)
