I lived that situation but with a single baby. I was still in the borg, at least in name. But the fiasco of "support" from the "brotherhood" became the defining point in my husband and I leaving for good. It's the only good thing from going thru a situation like that.

Thanks for the article. I suppose my first question would be why these parents would choose such a procedure that would very likely bring their children into danger. All those that choose to concieve a child in this fashion must realize the complications that are very likely to arise. If I understand it right, there are some embryos that are discarded. Is that not abortion and have they not already selected certain children over others? So what is the difference when done at a slightly later state of development?
Then to add the rejection of blood transfusions to the mix seems unrealistic. It is known that these children are born so premature that the risk for complications is high. Why would they procede with such a procedure in the face of all the risks to their unborn children? Don't they believe that they are going to live forever in a paradise earth? Why not wait to have children then, if unable to now, or adopt? I really feel for the stress these parents must be under, but it seems like the original choice was a bit selfish given the outcome.
