SHOW LOW - The local congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses invite the community and their new neighbors to an open house of the newly-built Kingdom Hall Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.The Kingdom Hall, the name Jehovah's Witnesses use for their meeting places, is located at 201 E. Whipple Drive in Show Low.
After laying the foundation, the 5,000-sq. ft. site-built structure was built during one weekend in mid-August with additional exterior and interior work finished in the following weeks. The "quick build" drew a record 322 volunteers from the Valley and several northern Arizona communities.
The hall has a seating capacity of 275, two meeting rooms and an office. It houses two congregations for meetings in English and Spanish.
The volunteers offered their services and skills in plumbing, electricity, framing, landscaping, etc., at no cost. Although some volunteers were professional tradesmen, most acquired their construction skills by volunteering at previous Kingdom Hall builds.
