The WTS had dreams of huge publisher increases like they had in the 70's and 90's. The year 2007 does not show huge publisher growth as was expected

As has already been mentioned on this site is the purchase of a large amount of printing equipment from MAN ROLAND in 2003

    Here is a link http://www.ondemandjournal.com/sitesearch/article.cfm?id=10261

    A quote from that site:

February 10, 2003 -- The international religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses has recently ordered seven LITHOMAN presslines from MAN Roland( Web Site Related Articles ), to be installed in its printing plants in England, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Japan (one press each) and the USA (two presses). Delivery of the order running in the middle of tens of million Euros are expected to take place from July 2003

Did the WTS make a wise investment??. The awake mag is now once a month and the watchtower mag is going to be scaled back. What next? Also there is a slow down in new books published. (The book study is using the old revelation book - old light)

These presses are minimally manned. The locations around the world cause a savings in shipping
costs (paper, ink, finished product) so less people being more productive and shipping quicker and
    cheaper. WISE INVESTMENT.

These presses will last longer if they cut production, but they will be used enough to pay for themselves.

The alternative was more of the same old way of doing things. There were not enough quality machines
in Brooklyn and New York state to dismantle the machines and ship them to the various locations.

I wonder why they got new machines for the US as well as other locations, but it could be to
1- simplify. Everyone has the same equipment.
2- get a deal from the manufacturer. Give us a break on parts and service if all of our equipment is from you.
3- buy new stuff that can easily be sold later. Sell the old stuff now, before it's antique.

Why doesn't the Watchtower go to electronic delivery of its magazines?

Then no printing presses at all would be required!

The reason why they will not do that is that their entire religion is based upon the printing, distribution and study of physical paper magazines and books.

If they went to electronic distribution it could possibly result in a decline and the eventual collapse of the religion!
