I am trying to find something that will help me not to lose my remote control again. I would like to find some kind of string that can be attached with the remote control from the recliner.

I recommend the Fing Longer as described in an episode of Futurama... with such a device your remote control will be rendered obsolete!

there is a kind of keyring: when you lost your keys, you can wistle them and they wistle back - that way you can find them.
Ain't there something like that for a remote control ? or you glue the ring at the control.

My remote has automotive reflective pinstriping on both sides,it won't glow in the complete darkness but will light up like a cat's eye in a darkened room with a flashlight.
I actually used to find it once so far.
