  XING is the leading system in 'social network' systems (despite linkedin is more known in the US). It is available in 16 different languages. I understand that it automatically adopts to your language.

  I have been registered for over a year now and I really like it because it is a great tool to stay in touch with friends and collegues internationally.They have high-quality boards for a lot of topics as well.

  How is it the same or different from MSN which I use? and does the bit about free for a month mean you have to pay after a month...?

  Sorry for the delay but I had to look up 'skinflint' at http://dict.leo.org. There I also found the expression 'a nice piece of crumpet'.

  However, I do not know about MSN. Are you talking about the Messenger? This is something different. Similar to XING are linkedin and smallworld. You link your acquantancies to you profile and they stick to you even if they move, change the country or the company.

  And you see the line of persons knowing each other to any member.

  After the month, you cannot use all the search functionalities like searching for company or high school. But you can cover a lot with the remaining functions and in the first month.

  Ah thanks for the explanation - sorry it took me so long to reply I had to look up German! LOL!

  It sounds then that it is an awful lot like myspace - and I have only just in the last week mastered myspace... but when I'm on top of that I would probably look at Xing. Did you mention it translates ? Or did I just dream that up...

  Yes, it should be in English for you. Otherwise, choose Language in the upper right corner of the screen. BTW, I have not bothered with myspace so far.
