"If we fall, we don"t need self-recrimination or blame or anger — we need a reawakening of our intention and a willingness to recommit, to be wholehearted once again. Each decision we make, each action we take, is born out of an intention.— Sharon Salzberg" Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goals "Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain."

"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face." "I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start." "I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change." "I will be what I will to be." Every man has three characters: that which he shows, that which he has, and that which he thinks he has.— Alphonse Karr" "Your dominating thoughts determine your dominating actions." Live In the Past ... and It Will Become Your Future "I have not failed 700 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work." - Thomas Edison "All that we are is the result of what we have thought." "Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." "It's surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you"re not comfortable within yourself, you can"t be comfortable with others." "We cannot choose how many years we will live, but we can choose how much life those years will have. We cannot control the beauty of our face, but we can control the expression on it. We cannot control life"s difficult moments but we can choose to make life less difficult. We cannot control the negative atmosphere of the world, but we can control the atmosphere of our minds. Too often we try to choose and control things we cannot. Too seldom we choose to control what we can … our attitude.— John Maxwell" "What is important is not what happens to us, but how we respond to what happens to us." "An optimist is a person who sees a green light everywhere, while a pessimist sees only the red stoplight... The truly wise person is color- blind."— Albert Schweitzer You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.— James A. Froude "The strongest oak tree of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It's the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun." "The measure of a man"s character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out.— Baron Thomas Babington Macauley" Today is a day for celebration.
Today is a day to be joyful.
It is a day to accomplish great things.
It is a day to learn, to love, and to
live the richness that is your life.
"You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." "Conviction is worthless unless it is converted into conduct."

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.

I have found the following a very helpful exercise to take just before going to bed and on rising in the morning: Say to yourself, "Every cell in my body thrills with life; every part of my body is strong and healthy." I have known a number of people to greatly improve their health in this way. You become what you picture yourself to be. If your mind thinks of sickness in connection with self, you will be sick. If you imagine yourself in strong, vigorous health, the image will be realized. You will be healthy.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you DIDN'T do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." "When asked what single event was most helpful in developing the Theory of Relativity, Albert Einstein replied, 'Figuring out how to think about the problem'." "The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes, in seeing the universe with the eyes of another, of hundreds of others, in seeing the hundreds of universes that each of them sees." "Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow'." "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." "When we create something, we always create it first in a thought form. If we are basically positive in attitude, expecting and envisioning pleasure, satisfaction and happiness, we will attract and create people, situations, and events which conform to our positive expectations."

"The great dividing line between success and failure can be
expressed in five words: "I did not have time."
    - Franklin Field

"A man may fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he
    begins to blame somebody else."
    - John Burroughs

"Four Lessons on Life 1. Never take down a fence until you know why it was put up. 2. If you get too far ahead of the army, your soldiers may mistake you for the enemy. 3. Don’t complain about the bottom rungs of the ladder; they helped to get you higher. 4. If you want to enjoy the rainbow, be prepared to endure the storm.— Warren Wiersbe" "What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail?— Dr. Robert Schuller"

"Animals have these advantages over man: they never hear the clock strike, they die without any idea of death, they have no theologians to instruct them, their last moments are not disturbed by unwelcome and unpleasant ceremonies, their funerals cost them nothing, and no one starts lawsuits over their wills.— Voltaire"

Thanks WAC. This one's my favourite as I think it sums up my life the best at the moment.
