I am now vaguely recalling either an Awake or Watchtower that came out right after the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center....and anyone can hear me out on this...I remember they had a bunch of little stories of people that were actually there and like every single person they wrote about apparantly RAN TO BETHEL away from the chaos and all of what was going on by the World Trade Centers...I'm not doubting these people in the article did run there, but seriously, the whole point of the article was to just be like, "Ah, yes, all of them ran to the Safe Mother," it was really weird. I mean, it was all like a commercial that apparantly Bethel is the place to be when disaster strikes or other bologna like that. :(
Does anyone remember the Awake or Watchtower that came out after Sep 11?

I know they put into massive reprint the Terrorism Awake from earlier that summer and there was a campaign to get it into peoples hands. Since it was a reprint, there were no real life accounts. I am unaware of any magazine after that that showed the real life experience of those there. If anyone could find I would surely be interested.

Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit
It was the G (code for Awake) and the cover was a pic of the rubble of Ground Zero, entitled Courage in the Face of Disaster. It was about the 20 or so JWs that were directly affected by this horrible attack on America--(was it approx 12 dead Jws) and 6 more that ran around with asthma trying to helpand getting lost. It was their attempt to show that they are different from everyone and that they are not terrorists (See, we were hurt too); it was a slap in the face to this country.
Thank Jehoooovah!

Awake or Watchtower that came out right after the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center....
The first Awake article came out Jan/8/2002. It dealt mostly with dubs who were there and who ran to (mama) the WT buildings it their time of need. It looked to me as being a very self serving article to reinforce the idea that the WT would provide salvation to the faithful only. They made no comment of any aid provided to the other masses of people caught in the madness of that day.
The Awake in it's inside page says that it reports the news. It only took them 4 months to "report" and they really did a pathetic effort of reporting the news. I commented to this effect to my Wife but that was not well received.

I found it very self-serving myself and I believed it was 'the truth' at the time. On the rare occasions the WTS does something good, they don't half go on about it.
I've read on here that they actually shut the doors to victims for the first few hours after the attacks as well.
