When I first left the org. I started doing a great ammount of research and during one of my trips to the librairy I discovered that the word "Jehovah" was a magic word and was used in magic spells and various occult ceremonies. I learned all of this from a book about magic and secret societies. I don't recall the name right now.
Anyway, when I was a witness we were told to call on the name of "Jehovah" when threatened by demons etc. as they couldn't stand to hear the name spoken. The dubs also believe it is a sign of the true religion to use the name. The fact that it is used in occult ceremonies seems to stand in the face of those beliefs. Does anyone else here know anymore to add to this? It has been a long time since I read the information and I don't remember it too well. It only just came back to me the other day.
Is the word "Jehovah" a magic word?

well, you dont have to do that much research to find inconsistencies. the reference in genesis to 'a start being made of calling on the name of jehovah.' is explained bizarrely by the society as blasphemous calling. that is the only way that the verse which appears to talk about yahism having a beginning can be explained. of course archeology shows us that yahwism was just one cult among many and was combined with other ones until fairly late in israels history when a start was made of jahwist monotheism. in that light, the genesis verse makes more sense.
but anyway, i digress.
the point is that demonic false religion is allowed to use jehovahs name too by WT interpretation so obviously the demons cant be all THAT shaken up by the mere mention of the name. i would expect that if pressed, JWs would distingush between those who 'called upon the name with faith' and those who didnt. its a magic word but you have to know how to say it to make it work right.

The only name I am aware of that demons hate is the name of Jesus. The name Jehovah is a name that was created by the Germans (I think) using the consonants of YHWH and the vowels of Adonai (Lord). They combined the two to make the name Jehovah or Jahovah. I am not saying it is bad or anything, but why would principalities shudder at a name that some guys came up with?Anyway, just my 2c.

Yes, the word "jehovah" is most definately a magical word.
I repeated it 7^7 (823,543) times and my head exploded. You can be sure that is going to leave a mark.
There is no invisible realm of existence populated by any form of 'spirit' beings. Whatever "magic" there is is all in your mind, right next to gods and demons.

The WT are more than likely involved deep with "occult" (unknown) organisations like freemasonry (Russell admitted this) and zionism / illuminati, and these dont have any true regard for the creator or Christ. They are involved in all sorts of magic and demonic rituals.
I know that the name Jehovah is a misinterpretaion, so using it brings no real reproach upon JAH.

It’s the name of Jehovah that the WTS says should be called on:
*** rs 388-9 Spiritism ***
How can a person be freed from spiritistic influence?
Prov. 18:10: “The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection.” (This does not mean that use of God’s personal name serves as a charm to ward off evil. The “name” of Jehovah represents the Person himself. We are protected when we come to know him and put our full trust in him, submitting to his authority and obeying his commands. If we do this, then when we call out to him for help, using his personal name, he provides the protection that he has promised in his Word.)*** g77 5/22 28 Should Christians Practice Exorcism? ***
Of vital importance is faith in Jehovah and earnest prayer to him. If under demon assault, it is essential to pray to Jehovah God through Jesus Christ, using the Divine Name. “The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection.” (Prov. 18:10; Phil. 4:6, 7)*** g82 10/22 23 "Why Did the Clock Stop When Grandpa Died?" ***
A lady who knew what the Bible teaches about these matters reported: “Shortly after my husband’s death I saw the back of a man who was sitting in front of the stove ready to light a fire. He acted exactly as my husband used to do in that situation. Immediately, out loud I asked Jehovah God for help. I then commanded the person: ‘I know who you are, get out of here!’ In that very moment he faded away. I have never seen him since.”*** pe 96-7 10 Wicked Spirits Are Powerful ***
RESISTING WICKED SPIRIT ATTACKS
17 What should you do if a “voice” from the spirit world speaks to you? What if the “voice” pretends to be a dead relative or a good spirit? Well, what did Jesus do when the “ruler of the demons” spoke to him? (Matthew 9:34) He said: “Go away, Satan!” (Matthew 4:10) You can do that too. Also, you can call on Jehovah for help. Pray out loud and use God’s name. Remember that he is more powerful than are wicked spirits. Follow this wise course. Do not listen to such voices from the spirit world. (Proverbs 18:10; James 4:7)*** w96 8/15 24 A "Witness Heap" in the Land of the "Mountain of God" ***
Later, she also learned that at night this young girl was being tormented by demons. Marie patiently explained how to place one’s trust in Jehovah, notably by calling upon his name out loud in prayer.—Proverbs 18:10. -
