I have wonder why would the society ask people to bring their older ( like 1970's) watchtowers and other publications to be placed. Then it hit me I wonder if the PO has a list of ones to thrash when spotted. Old Russel, Rutherford, and pre 1975 trash. Any else read trash if oldlight present post 1985 keep unless old light present.

Do they go that far back placing 1970's old light mags with the 1914 message on them? I thought one could sell many of these on e-bay for some cash.

I`d love to see a Jehovah`s Witness go to a door with the April,05 1968 Awake..They could show the house holder the article:"1975 What does it mean to you?"..LOL!!..How would a Jehovah`s Witness explain that bullshit now?.....Oh,thats what we don`t remember preaching 30 years ago.Even though I have the magazine with the information in my hand right now.I still deny it`s existance..Besides..We got "New Light"..It happened at the stroke of midnight,January,01 1976.....LOL!!...OUTLAW

    Excellent Outlaw!

Im sure it is some kind of ambiguous article about 1975 being a year of great significance that we will only understand its epoch importance as we near it! Those articles set the world of JW speculation on fire!!!
As a result many entered the full time pioneer effort and recruited unwitting persons like myself with their misguided zeal. I remember many a book study night staying late with elders talking about the events to shortly take place in 1975!!!!!

Hang on to that copy sir! It is a piece of JW history they should never forget!

Years ago, I can remember the "specials" we had on the old booklets that were cleared from the inventory of the Kingdom Hall. Some of them had outdated material as far as "new light" was concerned. And I was always a bit reluctant to distribute what I knew had wrong information and always curious why the Watchtower would recommend such a practice. Of course, in retrospect it was a sound business practice...but a poor ethical one. I must agree that money was always the "bottom line."

Believe it or not yes some still so up because someone dies and the family doesn't know what to do with it so they just give them back. It's rare now but it has happened.

I would like to see any written request that mags as old as that should still be 'placed'. The instruction that I recall was that all placements had to up to date and clean and neat.

Not only were some of that vintage now brown since printed on poor paper, The borg could stop printing for a while if everyone turned out their cupboards and offered the stacks that most dubs have at home !

Bluesbrother, while not give a specific age, the WTS says this (hahaha)

km 9/93 p. 3 Benefit Others by Using Magazines ***

Although we may primarily give attention to presenting the current magazines, there is no need to discard older issues, since the information itself does not go out of date. Keep back issues in your book bag so that they will be available when witnessing. These may be especially useful when a specific need of the householder becomes known. When an older magazine is left, it is all right to mention briefly to the householder his opportunity to contribute to the worldwide work.
