The JW's are now permitted to take every blood fraction that makes up whole blood,

however they can't take whole blood. This is like saying that they can eat the following

ingredients: flour, eggs, sugar, water, vanilla, and chocolate but they will be disfellowshipped

    if they eat chocolate cake.

JW's don't follow the teachings of Jesus as found in the pages of the Bible, they follow what

is printed on the pages of the Watchtower. They should be called Watchtower Witnesses.

I cannot argue with your comparison.

They do allow components of each 'major component' to be transfused - though there might be one or two exceptions. Plasma might be totally out still - I am not sure on that one.

Someone likened it similarly to someone stealing all the contents of a grocery bag - and that would be ok - but if he took the bag itself he would be considered a thief.

From an integrity to doctrine perspective - the Jw's were better off with the total ban of blood in all forms they practiced in the early days of the doctrine.

From a perspective of common decency - I am glad they have watered the doctrine down to where it is now - they are at least allowing some of them to live, when they would have died of the same things a few decades back.

In this case - their hypocricy of doctrine, works to the good of the brotherhood. At least to those of the brotherhood smart enough to figure out the complexities of the whole mess they have woven.
