The New York Times of November 19, 1974 reports a Bethel building had first and second floor windows blown out by a pipe bomb exploded in its doorway. An apartment building across the street sustained damage, too. Does anyone here know more about this incident?

It was Satan- he accidentally showed up a year too early for Armageddon...

Just the bombing of a KH in Australia in 1985.

An event that is almost identical to the one you describe happened in May of 2001 in Brooklyn Heights on Montegue Street. Here is a link to the New York Times article:

It was down by 30 Columbia Heights...the old Squibb building. A good friend of mine was the night watchman in that building and he had just gone through the area shortly before it blew. I don't know if they ever figured out who did it other than some local who disliked the Society. At the time, they were getting a lot of negative response from the local people in Brooklyn Heights over their expansion plans.

This is a great explanation! LOLZ..

You know, one young pioneer sister was trying to explain why the events leading up to WWI happened in the summer of 1914 rather than in October.

"Well, Satan knew he was about to be kicked out of heaven in October, so he started trouble early!"

    The ignorance is legendary indeed....

I was at Bethel at that time. Remember hearing it go off early morning. About 500 yds away from point of detonation. At that distance it was very loud. Do not recall if they ever found person or a specific reason given.

That was like the day before I arrived at Bethel, but I don't remember that!

They needed to keep the 'persecution' complex thing going and probably decided to plant their own little bomb! Wouldn't put it past them!

Oh the perseuction! Armageddon must be so close! But of course, they couldn't actually risk hurting themselves, and probably couldn't get hold of enough chappati flour and bleach ...... (little UK joke there!)
