If Mass Murder Were Committed—Would, You Buy It?

Throughout the country, there are homes in which murder was committed.
Sometimes, the houses sell 20-30% below market value because of such
    gruesome discoveries.

How Comfortable Would You Be Living There?

The argument that buying a home that sells for $250,000.00 for 20-30%
off sounds good, but how comfortable would you be living in it.

Claims Of Paranormal "Activity" On The Property?

What if there were claims of paranormal “activity” in the house, how much
would it weigh into your buying decision, providing that you believed
    such existed?

This was a conversation at work yesterday and it would be interesting to
know how you would feel about this issue and why.

    Respectfully,

Believe it or not, something like this happened to me.

Years and years ago I was renting my first apartment after college. The place was cheap and even included furniture. A week later I was talking with a co-worker and I mentioned something about all the mail I was getting for the previous occupants and how I thought it was odd that they hadn't had their mail forwarded. Then I mentioned the name on the mail.

It turned out that the prior renters, husband and wife, had murdered their child by scalding it to death in what was now my shower. I confirmed the story shortly thereafter.

I wasn't really bothered by this. After all, I've been damaged many times by the living, but not yet even once by someone doing something after they've died.

I dont think I would want to live there. I prefer as many good vibrations as I can get.

In PA, as in most states, you would have to disclose if there was a murder there, the property would be known as a stigmatized property. Many times even with a large price reduction, they don't sell.

I wouldnt want it just because of resell in the future. Especially if demonized.

My husband and I put down money on a large home in the area with about an acre of land. The home was vacant and had been for several years. It was a real bargain being sold by the State. It had strange, luxurious features such as real gold faucets. The pool had a large hot air balloon done in mosaic tile at the bottom.

Every time we went we discovered more and more. The Master bedroom had a small hidden room with a complete sound system, and TV. To enter the room you had to press a certain place on the wall. In the downstairs there was a large built in bookcase attached to the wall. We discovered it swung away from the wall and behind it was a passage way under the house littered with garbage.

We started getting strange feelings......really strong strange feelings, like when the hair stands up on your arms and the back of your neck! Turns out it was a owned by a large ring of drug smugglers. There were 18 of them to be exact, all caught and in prison. The State had taken over the house. The last thing we learned was the ring leader had kept a woman chained up for months in the area behind the book case, she escaped and went to the police. That's how they were all caught.

Needless to say with 2 small kids at the time, we backed out of the deal.

    Greetings wanderer,

This hardly matches the other stories for horror. When I was 4 or 5 years old we moved into a mountain cabin. I recall Mom's comment about a dark stain on the entry floor. Blood? This was an old and dirty place, as I remember it, and kind of creepy. It had to have been affordable.
I returned to the place a couple years ago for nostalgia's sake and found it derelict. The roof caved in, a virtual shambles. I stopped, parked and got out of my car. A friendly young man was there and seemed willing to visit with me. I told him that I had lived there as a child. He asked if I knew about the murder in the entryway. It jogged my memory about the above and I told him yes. A suppressed memory. My parents knew the story, but either didn't believe it or were too strapped financially to pass up on cheap rent.
Could this explain why I turned out the way I did?!?!?
