Has God always used a visible organization?

I've been talking to a couple of people from my kingdom hall about the Society's involvement with the UN. I mentioned that I had serious concerns about this recent news. I noticed that in both instances in my speaking with these individuals they tend to use the reasoning that even if the Society really is involved with the UN that there must be a good reason for it. And the second line of reasoning is that what other organization has accomplished what the Society has. (in terms of preaching on an international scale and understanding of the scriptures)

It seems that in every discussion that is had about the Society's mistakes it always leads back to the reasoning that out of all the religious organizations the WTS is the only one doing this or that and that God has always needed an earthly organization.

So my question is "Has God ALWAYS used a visible organization"?

At first thought the answer would seem to be yes when you reflect on the bibical accounts of the Israelites and the first century Jews and congregations. But what about the time period between the 1st century and the 18th century? There were quite a few decades where there was no mention of supposedly God's true organization.

Anyway those are some things that were going through my head this morning. What are your thoughts on this?

Before the establishment of the nation of Israel, God dealt with family groups not an organization.

    Cabeen's article is excellent -- a must-read for ex-JWs.

There are plenty of Bible examples where God did not "work through an organization". What "organization" existed when only Noah and seven other immediate family members were worshiping God? What organization did Job belong to? After the Israelites split into the Northern and Southern kingdoms, what single organization was the one through which people ought to have worshiped God? From what organization's "spiritual table" did C. T. Russell, the first Bible Student "governing body member", "feed" in order to be instructed properly?

You'll never find questions like these answered in WTS literature, for obvious reasons. It's instructive and entertaining to pose such counterexamples to JWs and watch them squirm.
