Music that stopped me in my tracks today!

    I know I'm probably way too late on this song, but I had a trunk full of groceries and sat in the drive way until I heard who this band was, and the name of the song.

    Bother by Stone Sour.....it gave me the chills. Not only the words but the voice.......

    Wish I was too dead to cry
    My self-affliction fades
    Stones to throw at my creator
    Masochists to which I cater
    You don't need to bother;
    I don't need to be
    I'll keep slipping farther
    But once I hold on,
    I won't let go 'til it bleeds

    Wish I was too dead to care
    If indeed I cared at all
    Never had a voice to protest
    So you fed me shit to digest
    I wish I had a reason;
    my flaws are open season
    For this, I gave up trying
    One good turn deserves my dying

    You don't need to bother;
    I don't need to be
    I'll keep slipping farther
    But once I hold on,
    I won't let go 'til it bleeds

    [Solo: Corey]

    Wish I'd died instead of lived
    A zombie hides my face
    Shell forgotten
    with its memories
    Diaries left
    with cryptic entries

    And you don't need to bother;
    I don't need to be
    I'll keep slipping farther
    But once I hold on,
    I won't let go 'til it bleeds

    You don't need to bother;
    I don't need to be
    I'll keep slipping farther
    But once I hold on:
    I'll never live down my deceit

    Hey r.,

    Those lyrics are pretty chilling! I know what it's all about to be "stopped in my tracks." Similarly, I was "making tracks" on the subway in NY nearly 40 years ago. I must have boarded when the tail end of some awesome tune piped into the coach was concluding with "like a bridge over troubled waters, I ............."
    I was incredulous just over the snippet I had caught. I stayed home all afternoon the following Saturday when finished with work at the factory; I was glued to the radio. After some 6 or 7 hours of anguished waiting, I heard Simon and Garfunkel's masterpiece - in full - and got the title.
    In your case today, you could find out instantly. That's pretty cool! My tormented waiting for "The Bridge" is what is known as, I believe, "exquisite pain." The reward was beyond BEYOND!

    I think that is the song that is on the Spiderman soundtrack. I really like that song a lot. They have another song out that is on Top 40 right which I think is called Through Glass. Corey Taylor (who is the singer) used to be the singer for the band Slipknot (if you've ever heard of them).

    Yes, that is a powerful song. Thank you for reminging me of it. Here is one of my favorites with a similar thought, but spun from a christian angle (kinda appropriate for this weekend).

    Note that Evanescense is not a "Christian" band, just that this song references...well please read on to find out. Singer is Amy Lee. She has a haunting vocal style that is versatile.

    Here is a link to the following. http://www.windupinvasion.com/exodus/tourniquet.html

    Fallen is a very, very good CD. I highly recommend it.

    The rest of my post is from that link.

    On Fallen this track is titled 'Tourniquet' but on 2002 Demos it's called 'My Tourniquet'.
    This version starts with atmospheric noises and a faint drumbeat. Layered vocals by Amy are in italics.
    This track was originally by Soul Embraced and was reworked by Evanescence.

    I tried to kill the pain
    But only brought more
    so much more
    I lay dying
    And I'm pouring,
    Crimson regret and betrayal

    I'm dyingdying
    Prayingpraying
    Bleedingbleeding
    And screaming
    Am I too lost to be saved?
    Am I too lost?

    My God, my tourniquet
    Return to me salvation
    My God, my tourniquet
    Return to me salvation

    Do you remember me?
    Lost for so long
    Will you be on the other side?
    Will you forget me?

    I'm dyingdying
    Prayingpraying
    Bleedingbleeding
    And screaming
    Am I too lost to be saved?
    Am I too lost?

    My God, my tourniquet
    Return to me salvation
    My God, my tourniquet
    Return to me salvation

    Return to me salvation

    (shouted) I want to die!

    My God, my tourniquet
    Return to me salvation
    My God, my tourniquet
    Return to me salvation

    My wounds cry for the grave
    My soul cries for deliverance
    Will I be denied?
    Christ - tourniquet - my suicide
