I need a MySpace alternative for our 13-year-old daughter. Do any of you know of any sites where young teens can safely communicate? I realize that nowhere on the Internet is truly safe without heavy parental supervision, but if y'all have any suggestions, please let me know.

How about using a telephone? That's about the only remotely "safe" thing I can think of.
Not sure but I think Neopets has set something up.
My neices have myspace sites. They are around your daughters age. My sister makes them keep it on "private" where only friends can see their space and it does not list their exact location or the school they attend. She also does not let them post a picture of themselves in the main picture area where everyone could see what they look like. She also has their passwords. She checks it almost everyday. It's time consuming for her but she says so far the girls have not abused it.
I will have my expert get hold of you. She gets out of school at 3:00 pm
