Was this an "experience" or an urban legend?

I remember this story being told in the 1970's, back when Nathan Homer Snore Knorr was the WTS president. This story was probably told at the Hall, or perhaps at a JW gathering. That part is a little fuzzy, but the details of this story remain clear.

Two "brothers" were preaching door to door in New York City. They encountered a skeptical householder, who said "You're out here working, gathering contributions while your Watchtower leaders are sitting in their ivory tower at your headquarters."

Then one of the brothers stepped forward and said, "Excuse me sir, but my name is Nathan Knorr, president of the WT Society."

So.... waddya think -- A real experience proving the humility and diligence of the Watchtower leaders, or do you call bullshit?

If it's true, it was right before the limo came back to pick him up, and the comment was
made by a passer-by because it was within sight of the ivory tower.

I'd say it was true, but rarely happened.

very few of the gb were consistent in their field minstry. They were usually content with theit 45 minutes they could count each Sunday for giving a talk.

Sydlyk was one of the few that was seen regularly in the field ministry.

It sounds like gossip to me, it doesn't feel right that Knorr would be that up front, it would be demeaning and incompetent. Even so the GB are no good because they are a dictatorial lot ruling with a ruthless iron feast.
