Of course, I'd heard the rumors of subliminal messages that all the JWs say from time to time. But it's been quite a while, so I had forgotten about it.
I've been cruising older songs, and I came across a nice little song on Youtube.
Ever heard of "Stairway to Heaven"?
Anyways, I pretty much loved it for a few days. So I'm searchin around for more led zeppelin songs. And I come across "Stairway to Heaven backwards"
I think "How strange, I wonder what that means?" So I listen to it.
It can't be! Not my lovable song!
So I record it myself, and reverse it myself...yep, they're talkin about Satan .
It's just so sad. I can't bring myself to like this song anymore. It bothers me, and its a bit annoying.
I guess I'll move on to the next classic band. I wanted to check out Pink Floyd. I hope they have no subliminal messages .

"I Snort the Lucifer! Banana! Banana!"
Tip of the hat to anyone who remembers where that back-masked verse came from! (Hint:The band had a cat who twanged his tongue!)

Hi anonymouse! cute alias.
Do I remember Stairway to Heaven? Oh sure. Very popular song. I believe I saw that also on YouTube.
I remember in "my day" hee heeeeee - they said one of the Beatle's songs had a secret message within. Just a bunch of hype. And I know there were other recordings in the ' 80s that were supposed to carry "subliminal messages".
Unless you're supersticious, I'd just enjoy the music and forget about the hype.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I always thought the backwards music stuff was a bunch of hogwash. I don't see how clear words can be put backwards and sound like anything but a video on rewind. Like the subliminal messages people heard in Suicide Solution from Ozzy, there's a thing in the backround which is an effect from background singers that people say is telling people to "shoot, shoot, shoot, get the gun" but when you take out the front vocals, which I do in Acid Pro, it sounds nothing like that.
I think this is just an urban myth.

There is no intentional secret backwards message in Stairway to Heaven. It's all about selective hearing. Just like playing "Another One Bites The Dust" backwards. Yeah, it kinda sounds like "we like to smoke marijuana", but it's not that clear. I'll bet you any money I could find unintentional backwards messages in my own music if I really tried.
I did a backwards message project around 10 years ago. Stairway to Heaven and Another One Bites the dust came up empty. But I did find some real messages in the following songs:
Electric Light Orchestra - Stranger: "You're playing me backwards"
Beatles - Free As a Bird: "It turned out nice again"
Headpins - Feel My Body: "Ooooh, feel my body!"
Weird Al Yankovic - Nature Trail to Hell: "Satan eats cheese whiz"
Electric Light Orchestra - Fire On High: "The music is reversable, but time is not. Turn back! Turn back! Turn back!"I've been meaning to put some samples up for a long time regarding the myths and the real thing. Perhaps I should work on that

Are you sure? It sounded amazingly convincing.
And the forward lyrics are strange in the first place. -

I listened to that whole freakin' song backwards and I heard nothing. There's websites out there with claims that there are backwards messages in Twinke Twinkle Little Star and the Popeye theme song. It's rediculous.
Here's an ELO one:

Here's the Weird Al one:

Here's a list of REAL backwards messages (I can verify that I've heard some of these).

I also have some music that has REAL intentional satanic backwards messages by a band called Venom. They're the only ones I know of who have done it.
I've also done backmasking in my Canned Peaches project, mainly the song "Return to Tihsllub". It wasn't easy getting a tape to play backwards in 1994, so I modified an old cassette player to do it. I should put that track up on my myspace because it's quite amusing

You mean that my mother made me throw out my Queen album for nothing???
