Yes - and thank you Carmel for the suggestion. So happens the guy who called on my inquiry was a fellow I have had coffee with a few times at a local coffee-bar. He heads up the entire state organization. Looking forward to the first meeting in a couple of weeks. Jeff
No, but I have been to a few Rotary meetings and want to join. The problem is it requires a financial commitment of >$200 per year, plus $15 for lunch weekly, plus they meet at an inconvenient time. I can't make it to the meetings without taking time off work every week.
Then there is the whole cult recovery thing. Meeting attendance is required and tracked. I get goose bumps when they pray, sing a song, and recite the same poem every week. The Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem, ok, I can take those...but the rest just makes me feel a bit icky.
Those are my excuses.
