It's me (snowbird) again. Thank you all for your hearty welcome! To answer a few questions about myself. No, I am not from a Northern state. I am from the Deep South--an Alabama Black Belt county as a matter of fact.
Snowbird is my childhood nickname. I grew up right across the Alabama River from the world-famous
Gee's Bend. We referred to the people of Gee's Bend as the "Over the River Folks."
I moved to a larger city in Alabama and met the Witnesses in 1972.

is Gee's Bend the place famous for the quilters? There was a museum exhibit of those quilts - I didn't see the exhibit but saw the stamps - was the first I had heard about that
Yes, Hortensia, you are spot on. Gee's Bend, the place where those awesome quilts originated, is right across the Alabama River from where I grew up.
