Yes, you guessed it. As if economic, family and social hardships were not enough, somebody up there has decided to send a peptic ulcer my way. It is giving me tremendous discomfort, as if somebody is squeezing a vice on my chest. But, whoever it is that is sending these things my way had better come up with better than that if he wants to get the better of me.

Needproof, you should probably get to the doctors, if you haven't already. Ulcers are mostly caused not by stress, but by a nasty bacteria called h-pylori. Here's a link you should check out: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hpylori/

You're very welcome. And just in case you didn't know this, do NOT take anything aspirin based or it could give you a bleeding ulcer. This happened to my father a few years ago. He collapsed right in front of me. He was bleeding internally and nearly died because of the 'no blood' bullshit policy of the Borg, but another hospital managed to save his life. Oh yes, life is just SO grand sometimes isn't it? Best of luck with this.

Damn thats good advice, I will steer clear. I am taking Gaviscon, something I swear by - I just tried the doctors but no answer. I need to get in fast, my chest is killing me.

Hey needproof,

Mary is right, you need to get to your doc asap. If your chest is hurting you may want to go ahead to the ER. You also can try over the counter Prilosec but these type of meds usually take about 1 week to work. Your doctor may be able to give you a GI cocktail that works immediately, but it has a narcotic in it so you will need to be at home with this.

Do you have a history of heart disease?? Family History??
