what would you say and what would you show them to prove the WTS has misled many?

Also if that person asked if the WTS had violated any scriptural prinicples how would you respond?

I allways tell them how my parents sold everything and how my Dad gave up his job so that he could preach right up to the end.

    The "End" was 1975.

I would not even try to convince them of this.

I would instead try to show them that there is goodness to be found outside the society and try to help them see that goodness is what counts, not a set of doctrines.

I would try to get them involved in a volunteer group where they could meet people of other religions and atheists that spend time trying to help other people out.

Finding out that "the world" is not as bad as they thought, in my opinion is a more powerful tool in breaking the hold of the Watchtower, than trying to prove the Watchtower is not as good as they thought.

    Just one man's opinion.

Joel you're on to something there, since the typical JW response to having their eyes open to the reality of the F&DS/org is "But where are we to go, they are the closest to the truth". And how do you fight that powerful tool? The only way is to help them realize the world isn't as black and white as they have been taught. And that good is everywhere, just like 'bad' is everywhere...

    Leander,

There's so many gems on this forum, that your question becomes a hypothetical one.

Why not choose a subject matter that speaks to *you*--and use that as a springboard?

If you were ever a JW then you know all of the 'conversation stoppers' and how to 'Witness' to someone. It is not a matter of what any of *us* would do, but more a matter of what is right for you personally.

Which topics have you found to be real hot-buttons?

    Lisa
