My mother is not computer savvy, so she asked me to look up 7th Day Advents and the woman,
Ellen White, who founded it. I will print a bunch of information for her from Wikipedia to help.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_White

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millerites

Anything else you all can recommend. My mother will probably read it, she's a loyal dub
who got DFed after 1975, lived her life normally for a few years, then went back and got
reinstated. She still believes that the end is imminent because of the 6000 years plus 1000 years
of Christ's reign must be included in the 7th Creative Day, but we don't know when Eve was created.
    (Seriously)

She knows I stepped aside as elder, but doesn't know that I have become inactive. I am just trying
a different approach with her, waiting to be asked things.

Any suggestions on info to give her. (No, she won't read anti-JW stuff.)

Perhaps the SeventhDayAdventist could make use of the following:

    Interesting site:

"My father?s great grandfather, it turns out, was the founder of the Second Day Adventists6, William Miller, the forerunner of the Seventh Day Adventists, as well as Jehovah?s Witnesses."

Magic Johnson and Kellogg, the founder of the cereal company, were SDA.

Frankly, I think it would be more helpful to give the SDA information on the Watchtower :). SDA is a little unusual, some quirks. It's got some cultishness to it, but not nearly as repellant as the WT. (The most vomitrocious of all IMHO)

Ellen G. White as was found out, was a plagiarist through and through. Called herself a "prophetess" but she was more like a "copier." They don't eat the meat, of course Sabbath is Saturday and the Sunday worshipping is akin to the Mark of the Beast. It is interesting about the commonality of inspiration behind White and Russell: Bill Miller. The 1844 stuff and how it failed to come about and how they spun it like a shadow to 1874/1914 damage control.

Im the SDA on this site smellsgood is mostly right about the church. Just a correction though only about 20% are vegetarian.

The worst doctrine in the SDA church is the investigative Judgement doctrine that sprung from the events of 1844 and in a nutshell promotes the doctrine of perfectionism of which a large sector of the church promotes. Perfectionism flys in the face of the gospel and denies the full forgivemess our lord gives of past present and future sin the gospel of grace gives to the sinner. Barry

I am going to give my mother a packet of printed sheets from the websites I listed and from
SG. She will have enough to read that helps her see that SDA have some strange beliefs
but not so different from JW's. Thanks, everyone.

So I printed these materials and stapled the packets together. Then I left them near the computer.

    The wife says "What's that?"

"My mother is studying with a woman who is Seventh Day Adventist, she asked me to look them
up and tell her what they believe."

    "What do they believe?"

"Well, let's go out to eat dinner, I will read some of it while we wait."

I started reading the beliefs, and when she heard that they were an Armageddon group that had
some beliefs similar to JW's, she just shut down.
    "Okay, that's enough. No more."

    "I am almost done."

    "Nooo, enough."

Can you all see the mind-control cult effectiveness upon her? I never implied anything or added to
    the reading with comments.

It should be noted that there is a tremendous difference in theology between the historic Adventists of which are quite cultic and the progressive Adventists. Even though both groups attent the same church each group have there own separate ministries. The progressive Adventists are supported by the scholars and the younger generation.
