Hi,
Whilst most witnesses are brainwashed, many are instinctively honest (I hope!). Those who have left or faded have displayed enormous courage. When we stop behaving as we were taught would that make us more or less honest? As a recent fader I am of the opinion that honesty would paradoxically increase.
What do you think?

Such classification would qualify as stereotyping. Remember, you're talking about individuals.

I hope that I would not use a forum as a basis for sterotyping. I just think there could be an interesting paradox.

I would tend to agree with you mtsgrad.
Example: Most JWs probably fudge their field service reports a little.
Ex-JWs dont fill out field service reports.
I think ex-jws are more honest with themselves otherwise they'd still be jws.

I don't know about the current witnesses. All I know about is myself. For some reason, I am pretty honsest. I dont lie about much of anything that I can think of. Thats just the way I am. It might not be a good thing.
I wouldn't say I'm more or less honest now than I was as a jw. I'm the
same person I always was, without the guilty feelings and judgemental
attitude I developed in the org.
In a way, all active jws are unknowingly dishonest - they are trying to
teach people what they perceive to be the truth when it's really total bs.
The most dishonest jws IMHO are the governing body, who must know
or at least have a good idea that what they write is bs, but keep on doing
it anyway.
