Just a question. What stops the boys in Crooklyn from simply saying: "Look, we don't know why so & so filled out this form to become a NGO. We, the Governing Body didn't know about it and as soon as we did we removed outselves from association with the UN."
Just wondering what excuse everyone thinks they'll come up with.

Roybatty,
There would be regular ongoing correspondence. Must be 100's of letters on file somewhere.

Well, they know their members are braindead - but they just can't take the chanse 100% are absolute fullblown idiots. There just might be a few that would start asking questions by such a stupid explanation.
After all, this is an agreement made between the Watchtower and the UN, and as in other business projects, there is only a few people who can sign for a company....
I would believe that's the fact even in a Window Cleaner business - which is why they can't risc that explanation. :)

Roybatty,
For 10 years they have been supplying the UN with carefully selected examples of their literature which supports the UN's principles. That's hard to explain away, esp. since the GB supposedly oversees all articles. Some are clearly written to give the impression of promoting the UN, e.g., the Sep. (I believe) 1991 series of articles in Awake.

Hmmm,
How can that be? Obviously an individual member of the GB can do things all by himself.. Wouldn't that violate the theocratic organization that was set up by Jehovah himself? I thought that is why they changed from a single president to a governing body years back.. This is very disturbing to me, are you sure he acted alone?
Also bring out the point that every year for the past 10 years they had to file papers with the UN to keep the relationship going.. So, even if a single person did break the theocratic order of things, the GB had to know about it from year 2 to year 10 when they resigned..
I wonder if a single person did the "resigning" or if the entire GB felt it was prudent to resign.. Hmmm, again, more questions...
Just my $.02

I thought about this. First hurdle, would the UN release such documents and if they tried would the WT's army of lawyers take legal action? Two, it wouldn't be the first time that a large organization, such as the UN, didn't keep track of who didn't send in their monthly reports.
I just don't know. I really, REALLY hope that there is some major fallout on this one. Knowing some of those at Bethel, it's just hard to believe that they were this stupid. I mean, did the benefits really amount to much? Was it worth the risk? And now by suddenly withdrawing....wow, that makes them look really bad! I guess cult leaders just aren't what they use to be!

When the irrefutable evidence is produced that they did indeed disassociate themselves from the UN, after being associated for 10 years, I think they will claim they did so because of all the distress is was causing the brothers, and although the association was for the "preaching of the good news throughout the inhabited earth" their support of UN ideals is causing "a stumbling" and for that reason they are leaving.
Bullshit!

Wasn't Barry,a member of the GB, one of the signitures on the application? If this is true how could they claim the GB didn't know?
Also how are they going to explain away how they used this membership to its fullest. For example,
We can find DPI info in their literature along with DPI photos neither of which they would have had access to without their membership.
Also I pointed this out yesterday in another thread. It is a quote from WT's MISSION TO AFRICA BRUCHURE it is as follows in italics. Our activity was often hindered by difficulties particular to the region. Distances are vast and lines of communication almost nonexistent. The best form of travel, if not the only one, is the airplane. Often we used the H.C.R.'s (United Nations High Commission for Refugees) planes.
Now I have to ask this question, how would the WT society have access to UN planes without this membership?I don't think the UN is in the business of loning out planes to just any one who wants one even if it is for a good cause.
The facts speak for themselves and these excuses and lies we keep hearing will only make things worse for them! They have always had a hard time coming clean even when they are caught red handed.

The more I think about it, the more I think they'll do what Kent said. Just ignore it. Dam I'd like to see them try and defend it though. Put them on a JC and have them explain their actions while we sit there acting high and mighty!
