    see:

    www.mturk.com.

The folks at Amazon.com realize that artificial intelligence doesn't work very well so they took a lot of

little tasks that need a human mind and put them on the internet. They will pay a few cents for small

tasks - and while it isn't a lot, it might be fun for shut-ins or house bound folks to do.

That was an interesting sight..... I'm sure someone would find value in their pay structure..... thanks.

I skimmed over the sight, do you think this is legit, or just another ploy to get your email addy so they can spam you?

I'd be interested in knowing if it is legit. I'm not a Shut-in (love that phrase) but I'd like to be!

I too was concerned that this might be s SPOOF site that imitates the look-and-feel of AMAZON with fraudulent intent, but I am delighted to report that it appears to be completely legitimate!

I made this determination by going to AMAZON.COM and eventually navigating to this page:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=16465291

which explains the program and contains a link to the page Metatron gave us.

Thanks, Metatron! This might be helpful to some of us!

There are nowadays many people that work at home some doing work like the above and some doing much of their office work at home and sending it over through the net so as to avoid going to the workplace and wasting time on commuting or perhaps seeing people there they don't like.

As far as I know, it is legitimate. I think the NY Times ran an article on it.

Looking at some of the sample Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs), I wonder if they are asking a person to work for 4.5 hours to earn 65ยข?

Did I miss something? Is cyberspace a "fifth-world" nation?

    Edited to add:

I did a little websurfing, and I learned that this appears to have some appeal in INDIA, and AMAZON will make payment in rupees. Then I found a discussion on NPR, (which I genrally don't listen to)

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10167655

[click on the "listen now" link for a six minute 15 second audio]

I doubt that anyone is going to be able to make mortgage payments working as a "Turk." In fact, one could argue that this is further devaluing of human labor.
