My Uncle is still an Elder and pioneering at the age of 84. He started studying with the Witnesses in the early 1960's and was made an Elder a couple of years later. He has auxilary pioneered for the last 40 years. Today, he is elderly, fragile, has heart problems, can't hardly walk, and he still continues to auxilary pioneer. Going to the meetings has been his only passion. But,it saddens me that he will never see the end. The WTS has lied from their beginning and continues to lie today just for the sake of keeping their business going. What a waste of time for my Uncle who could of done something better with his life!

What's even sadder is that these old folks are being encouraged to spend their time with preaching, and not with simple pleasures. I still remember the example of an old woman who felt guilty for maintaining a modest garden.

    Shame on you, WTS.

That is a sad story. I believe the baby boomer JW's will take getting old really hard. They gave up disco, free love and rock-n-roll, careers and families to be a boring JW magazine salesperson. They could walk away now and salvage the last 20 years of their life, but N-oo, they have too much false pride to admit they have been duped by the WTS for their entire life.

Today, I took a long walk and saw 3 old JW's in the field service. 2 of them are elders and the other one already was an elder. They are about 75 and none of them will see the end. This may explain their sad hard faces.

People make their choices along the way. I am 60 now and a proud grandma. In my mid 30's, I left the organization, never df'd/da'd, moved some which helped the fading, thankfully, gradually during the same period, my siblings left too which helped. Life should keep challenging us to grow and evaluate things continually. I was raised in the WTS since 9 yrs old, pioneered 5 yrs, Bethel 5 yrs, but becoming a mother and raising children caused me to re-evaluate my childhood and how I wanted my children to enjoy their precious youth, value their education & definitely the goal of college (4 of 5 have already graduated college, the 5th half way done, via 4 yrs in the Marines). If people never grow emotionally/spiritually personally, re-evaluate their life, just "follow" day in, day out, same-o-same-o, then maybe that's their limit. So, I don't have much hope in the old JW folks changing, "cement of the brain happens". It's the youth there that I wish had a chance to grow and have free minds and hopefully some will "peek" out somehow through the Internet and get a chance to personally fulfill their lives, reality.

Like I questioned the elders "what End are you talking about"?

These people will see the end! The end of their lives!

My uncle is 84 to, he had a good union job his whole life no kids, no major

bills or setbacks made good investments he's well off.

He told us he is going to give all his wealth to the JW's (cult) when he passes away.

Song by Sammy Hagar 'Buying my way into heaven' comes to mind.

My father is in his 70s now. While he still believes alot of what they teach, he knows deep down that there's something really wrong here. The End was supposed to be here decades ago and he lived his whole life with that in mind. He got screwed on his pension (was told NOT to pay into it by the elders when he was 17) and never saved a dime. After all, why save when Armageddon is coming?

He's terrified of dying, is somewhat bitter at the Borg for lying to his generation but at his age, there's no way he's going to change now. It is sad and I know that when my parents do leave this earth, I'm going to be one angry person.

They might see the end. But obviously not because of any 607/1914 time frame.

And the reward might be at the end of their life.

The WT errors don't necessarily negate this.

It might not be what they were expecting . . .paradise earth etc.

I actually believe that the big surprise JWs will get at the end is that loads of others make it too.

Proving the WT wrong but not God or his promises.

In his grace I think he'll forgive many because most aren't responsible for the wrongs.
