I have a Jehovah Witness coworker who is out sick for a couple of weeks. We ( a group of coworkers) are planning on sending her a get well soon card and present (teddy bear). Will this be disrespecting her as a Jehovah's witness and her religous beliefs.

Thank you for your quick response

    Hi

No it will not be disrespecting her beleifs.

The only gifts JWs object to are those which are associated with religious holidays, or birthdays.

A get well gift is OK.

PS, you might want to give her a link to this site one day....it might help her break free from the cult she is part of

In fact, those get-well cards are among the few items that the Witlesses are supposed to be getting and giving. If a person is in the hospital, or is sick, a gift is appropriate and the card for sure is. Of course, they might start making stupid rules intended to make it harder to know what type of gift is acceptable.

It's OK to send get well gifts/wishes.

    I hope your co-worker doesn't need blood.

This is a very kind thing for you to organize. She will not be offended at all. If she is not strong and popular in her congregation, she may not get many well wishes from the members. It would be wonderful for her to see that you cared about her.

Cards and gifts are acceptable. I would send individual cards, and gifts if possible. If your coworker recieves more from worldly people than from the JWs, maybe she will get some kind of message from it.
