"UN" Searches at the Watchtower

I am really appreciative of the work done by many here related to the UN hot-topic, for those who contacted the UN and those brave enough to approach the WTS directly too. I have printed my copy of the letter and have saved an image for use this weekend.

Here’s another thought on the UN thing. During the last couple of weeks I have checked the Watchtower main web-site and the Media site for references for the UN. (I posted some quotes and links to pages to show what the WTS puts out in public.) To find the references I used their own search facility and this leads to my question. Many web-sites monitor the frequency of the search words. If the WTS does the same they will have noticed that “UN” and “United Nations” have been search for quite frequently. I wonder if the large amount of interest in this topic has been noticed and will it get worse now I have mentioned it?

If they do monitor what is searched for on their sites I bet UN related topics account for the number 1 subject.

i dont think they need to monitor their web search logs to figure that out.

Nothing negative they have ever said about the United Nations can be found at their site. It is so unbelievable! I guess you have to actually have the WT CD to find anything, or look manually through the books.

    Eyebrow,

You said nothing negative is said about the UN at their sites. That is not strictly true:

Because our first parents rejected God's law, human government came under the control of Satan. Appropriately the Bible calls Satan "the god of this system of things." (2 Corinthians 4:4) The wars, the cruelties, the corruption, and the instability of man's governments prove that he is. The League of Nations and the United Nations have failed to bring peace out of the confusion. Mankind cries out for a government of peace.

That quote is hardly in support of the UN charter, calling them a failure. If it wasn't for the UN what would be the state of the world today? We'd be in a bigger heap of mess than we are today with the "do nothing but ridicule" attitude of the WTS.

You are right about the amount of negative stuff you will find in comparison in the printed material. But then again, the WTS media site says JWs don't sever family ties!!!

    Thirdson,

I honestly have never been able to find anything negative about the United Nations at the site. I truly appreciate the link you posted here. When I have entered United Nations into a search it always lists articles that contain quotes or statistical information provided by the UN.

Can I ask you what search keywords you are using? Or were you able to find this only because you knew what to look for? I did type in the League of Nations, and the article you pointed out did come up.

Thanks again for the link, and pointing out my error. I guess my error was thinking of looking for the obvious keywords.

    Eyebrow,

Not a problem. I didn't mean to be critical of you, sorry if my wording seemed that way.

When I searched the site originally I tried "United Nations", "League" and UN. I know the "League" got the best hit which is what I tried for the quote above. I use the "find on this page" feature of IE as well to scan the text. I don't particularly want to have to read large sections of the WTS stuff

"find on this page" and I go way back, haahaa!

I think my mom has the WT cd...I may borrow it from her and see what I can stir up.

I posted quite a few of the links I found over there on the UN thread too I'm just wondering whether the site will stay as it was when I searched or whether it will undergo an update shortly
