What dessert should I serve with lasagne? Making beef lasagne, green salad and garlic bread. Stuck at the dessert, don't want something too rich and heavy.

i alwys buy dessert because life's complicated enough with the main course! I would buy a light apple tart and serve it with a choice of cream or icecream. Simple, but the sugar should be a happy contrast to the lasagne.

Sorbet, or something with fruit like this:

    INGREDIENTS

    • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
    • 1 (5 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
    • 2 cups fresh blueberries
    • 2 cups chopped fresh strawberries
    • 2 cups fresh raspberries
    • fresh mint leaves for garnish

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a bowl, mix the frozen whipped toping and sweetened condensed milk. Gently fold in 1 3/4 cup blueberries, 1 3/4 cup strawberries, and 1 3/4 cup raspberries. Top with remaining blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Garnish with mint, and chill until ready to serve.

    OR

    COLORADO COMPOTE

    1 lb. bag frozen blueberries
    1 lg. bag frozen boysenberries
    1 lg. bag frozen cherries
    1 lg. bag frozen blackberries
3 lg. bags frozen peach slices Sugar

Allow 4 to 5 hours thawing time. Empty all frozen fruit into very large mixing bowl. Occasionally stir to mix juices. Bblend in sugar, to taste, small amounts at a time. Also optional, 1/2 cup of brandy, added prior to serving. You will end up with a luscious deep red compote that serves about 20 people. Top with Whipped Cream

I'd go with something prepared with puff pastry. The simplicity will contrast with the complex flavors of the lasagna.

but then again, I'm just a fat kid.

A scoop of sorbet in a champagne flute, a bit of sliced, inseason fruit, pour asti supmanti over, serve. This is a light dessert for something like lasagna, and quite elegant.
