I would normally agree that any Paris Hilton news should be insignificant and does not deserve to be mentioned on any credible news channels. However, this particular story is important, in my opinion. The reputation of American's justice system is shattered, and it really was dealt a serious blow with the OJ Simpson trial. Many celebrity trials since then have cemented the view that you can get away with just about anything as long as you are famous and have money (see Michael Jackson, Robert Blake, among many others). This is a good first step in the direction of repairing the image of a broken justice system. Granted, it's still pretty insignificant, but it's a step in the right direction. Americans need to feel that nobody is above the law. Hopefully, this helps start a trend against celebrities getting away with murder, literally.
