Here in the ACT we can still buy fireworks but in New South Wales they are baned is that right?. Anyway I bought the kids a bag of fireworks for $30 and had a great time letting them off tonight. Im dissapointed they dont have the large explosive ones or the skyrockets but some went quite high all the same.

I'm hanging for July 1st, cracker night for the territory! Between 7pm - midnight you can let off fireworks. Be heading down to the beach with a few mates, few bags of fireworks between us for a fun filled night! It's to celebrate the territory's right to self govern, we do it in style by blowing up a small portion of it. The entire city and suburbs every year are covered in smoke, love it!

Sounds like fun. So as part of the Commonwealth, you recognize yourselves as being "subject to" the Queen?

July 4 here is quite the opposite concept!

The queen is head of state in Australia much the same as Canada. Not all the commonwealth countries have the the queen as head of state many have a republick system.
