I remember when filling this out some time back that one of the questions it had was something along the lines of........

"Do you trust in the "faithful and discreet slave" and recognize it as God's sole channel of spiritual truth?

Someone correct for any needed changes to that question...

    Why ask prospective pioneers this?

Is there any other reason or something pertaining to any legal ramifications as to why they would ask this?

So they can quickly boot you out of Bethel, maybe that same day, if you start badmouthing the "slave."

I remember vaguely that question when filling that application out when I was still intoxicated with spirits after a night of drinking with the guys.

Since 100% unquestioned submission to the FDS (=Watchtower Society) is the foundation cornerstone of being a JW then why wouldn't they ask it?

In reply I would write on the form Psalm 146:3

When they take a volunteer willing to report 70 hours a month of literature selling at no
salary, plus s/he is willing to take on the added expense of travel, and they take this
noble volunteer action as a grand privilege that you must be approved for,

    when they do all this,

they realize what a valuable pawn they have, so they further exploit this pawn by
pushing their cult control onto him. This way, he has no problems doing his volunteer
service totally their way without question.

    That's it in a nutshell.

"Do you trust in the "faithful and discreet slave" and recognize it as God's sole channel of spiritual truth?

What would they do if you wrote "NO" as a reply? Think they would only turn down your pioneer application and let it go at that?

    I don't think so.

They ask on the Bethel application how long it has been since you listened to certain types of music-rap, heavy metal, etc. Why would they ask a stupid question like that? Kinda crazy, aren't they?

Who would actually even admit to them that they listened to this music if they really wanted to get chosen to join the Bethel club? And who would answer no to the pioneer question? Just covering all their bases I guess.

I remember getting one of those &$^@ing slips shoved into my face one day. They had just gone through the talk in the Kingdumb Misery in February, urging everyone to pioneer for the months of March, April, and (not or) May. And they decided that they were going to hand them out to everyone in the Hell and stand there to make sure everyone filled them out properly. That was extremely difficult to dodge since they were not going to give us the night to "lose" them or decide not to pioneer.

Of course, there is no way I was going to sign up to do 60 hours during each of those months. I insisted that I was going to take my slip home and "pray" about it before making a snap decision, and that if they pressed the issue any further, that I wouldn't do any pioneering at all. Then I "forgot" the slip at home. Of course, I let the deadline pass so I wouldn't get another one shoved in my face. Ultimately, they got back something like 60 of those things filled out, and most were for the three months. Maybe 25 were either not accepted for whatever reason or "lost".

The Bethel ap had something about "do you have or have you ever had homosexual feelings"? WTF? Oh, thats right, you have at least 2 (and in the old days 3 or more) boys in the same small cramped Bethel apartment closet. Might have something happend if you mixed a little homo leaven into the hetero lump. (And I know for certain it did happen.)

Why would anyone answer that personal question? I personally dont understand why a person would be homosexual, but I also believe that is their personal business and not the business of the Personnel Department of the Borg (or anyone else for that matter). Its not a legal question on a secular application, why is it acceptable on a Borg ap?

The Bethel ap was really long last time I filled one out..lots of personal questions. Thank goodness after my last temp Bethel stint I "humbly" withdrew my permanent ap to pioneer (after which I stopped pioneering ).
