Another Young One Takes a Stand FOR Higher Education

A few weeks ago an elder from my old congregation stopped by (although a real company man, he is "a good cop" one) to invite me to the (anti)memorial. Frankly I was surprised to see an edler at my home . . have had some interesting confrontations with others on my porch . . .

Anyway he was there with his stepdaughter, a pretty 17 yr old young lady. When he went to his car to get a tract I asked her about school. She is graduationg HS this month with honors. Then I asked her "So, where are you going to college?", she surprised me by saying that she is going on to a good local community college. I told her that that was "Wonderful! A good education is very important!, be sure to go on to a 4 year shool and get your Bachelors". She agreed with me, then her stepdad came back and she changed the subject. I could definately sense that she considered this a sensitive topic around her stepdad.

Anyway, although I had a hard time dealing with the "Kult Platitudes" it was worth it for my revealing 30 second conversation with the young lady. Step dad a robot elder (menial part time laborer), mother a pioneer. Knowing them like I do, this young lady is fighting tooth and nail for her advanced education.

Locotus, Mr. Flipper here. Good move!! Glad you encouraged that young lady that way. My 22 yr. old son had to move out from my ex-wifes overzealous witness house to be with me his fading father to have a chance at an education when he was 18. He was fading too, so he didn't mind. He was only too happy to get away from the over control. This young lady may have to do the same in order to have the freedom she needs to go to college. Otherwise heavy handed parents might try to interfere. Hopefully not. Peace, Mr. Flipper

I don't know who the witness adults think they're fooling - at least in my area.

They condemn the young people for going or wanting to go to college. However, when I have to take continuing education classes for work at some of the local college campuses, who do I see???? The same people; and sooner or later you hear "so-and-so graduated" or "so-and-so got their degree in whatever". Hypocrites. Then the other witnesses that shared in the condemnation feel stupid because they could have went to school too. Dummies.

It's good to see that an elder's daughter understands that higher education is a ticket to a better life. And that the WTS does nothing to help those that followed its instructions about avoiding university should they come to be in need while the ever elusive end fails to materialise.
