I'd like to get some detailed support(but not 20 paragraph reports) that witnesses utilize for modern day support of going door to door, and street witnessing.

Are there any of you that ever had problems with the support of these activities, ie, you didn't fully agree with it.

I'd like some thoughts on Luke 10:4 & 10:7, specifically, I understand this as (10:7) "find a home to stay in while your in a particular town, and do not go from house to house shacking up"

Would anyone think that it supports not going door to door for home bible studies? And 10:4 to not do street witnessing?

I feel that in that era, the Gospel specifically pertaining to Christ & Christianity was not well known and makes sense why there was such a push to witness these ways, however, in todays times and the last centuries, it's so well heard of and known that a standard of door to door, is just not an absolute necessary.

I know people who support the "Truth" will credit this to satan, and I believe they are just mislead, but my church as an example, has grown from about 2,000 members to about 4,000 in the last 3 years. No door to door, no street witnessing, but outreach programs, word of mouth and by leading by example to others in our lives. All these reasons grow churches worldwide, and the word of God and Christ is in such abundance.

I've clearly seen the superior attitudes JWs have in thinking that they are clearly "God's People", cause THEY are doing the door to door work, which lends mental support for them believing that they MUST be IT.

If any have studied other faiths, there are others that go out witnessing too.

Thanks for your expertise on these matters.

You're correct in that other (non-JW) religions have done quite well attracting new members without going door to door, although occasionally some do canvass the neighborhoods to leave an invitation to come to their church (but not to have long doctrinal debates or discussions).

The door-to-door work is more to keep the JW's on the Watchtower treadmill than it is to actually bring in new converts.

The main scripture they use is Matthew 24:14 "This good news will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." (We had that drillled into us endlessly.) There's nothing in there about door knocking. They use logic to try to lead you to the inference that this 'command' (-- that's right command, not prophecy) can only be carried out by an organization, and the organization has the right to direct how it be done.

Another scripture I heard a few times was the one where Jesus sent out the disciples two-by-two and said "Go into each city and search out in it who is deserving...". So , the reasoning is - that the only way to 'search' through each city was by going everywhere the people were, including all homes and businesses. However, the only thing for certain about this command was that it was given to those original disciples -- there's no evidence that it would apply in later times (like now).

In the New World translation it says do not "be transferring from house to house." So regardless of if "kata" in the Greek Koine was elsewhere used more in the sense of from one house here to another possibly miles away, still Luke 10 proves the earliest Christians were told by Christ to be focused upon peaceful relationships with people and in fact not to be moving around.

Instead Christ said to bring praise to God's good name the same way he did. How? He helped those in need not only with kind words but hands-on acts of kindness. We are saved as an act of kindness freely by God, meaning by grace, but those who are saved by grace naturally act in ways that bring praise to God helping the poor, blind etc.

Going about banging door after door is not conducive to peacefulness. Going from a house in one area to a house in another blocks or many miles away where there is some evidence of friendliness and hence greater opportunity to cultivate spiritual interest, well, that is peacefulness and the Way of the one true faith that existed when Paul said there was one true faith, namely, Christianity in the general sense, not some one branch of the Tree of Faith.

Luke 10: 5 "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' 6 If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

If any Watchtower trolls are reading this then I charge them to take a copy of it to ALL the Governing Body members, not just Jaracz. They should be ashamed of not obeying what Christ has clearly told them. Among those they send to doors are pedophiles and they know it but do it anyway. This is dangerous to the Public's children and they know that too. Stop the practice.
