I have a secret I have been keeping from my wife: I supplement our sex life with masterbation after viewing soft pornographic magazines and movies. I want to do what's right...how do I fight these impulses? Serious replies only to my private email.

It's time to grow up and realize that masterbation is not a sin and is normal, healthy and NECESSARY! If your wife can't understand that then you are much to be pitied. See a counselor about it if it becomes a problem. You should just tell your wife outright that you masterbate and that she should too. Offer to buy her some toys and use them with her. But, "fighting" it is just stupid.

Shawn was absolutely correct. It's sad when couples get hung up on masturbation as if it is somehow ''cheating''. It isn't. It should be respected by both partners. It does not replace the great sex you and her share. It is merely an easy, fast, convenient release, and that is NORMAL.
Imagine if you expected your wife to fufill your every single desire? She would probably start to feel used, and physically tired.. So it's better that you are self reliant and independent enough to take care of your own needs. She probably goes it on her own too, just doesn't tell you about it.
Once your relationship matures over time, you will probably both feel comfortable enough to share with one another that you each masturbate on your own...and it's cool with both of you.
Why do you need to fight these impulses? What makes you think your wife isn't supplementing your sex life in the same way?
