I am recreating my website and was short of ideas.

Can you tell me your favourite looking site?

    Thanks in advance,

I don't have an example, but the most important thing in a website to me is that it is indexed logically and is devoid of any of that highly annoying flash animation crap. Second, and nearly as important, on the list is that the background not clash with the text colors. I'm sure we've all seen white text on a pink background or something similar that simply hurts one's eyes to try and decipher. A simple website with accurate links, perhaps a dark background, seems to be the most appealing to me.

    I agree with John Doe.

Also, I hate those sites where you click on the only link that's on the homepage and the actual site is on a pop-up that you can't resize or maximize.

Go to videotom.com. Go past the opening page and look at the commercials....You must have decent speakers. Click on the commercials on the first page.....

Nothing too psychedelic colourwise, no tracking cookies!!

It also pays to ensure that your colour schemes are colour blind friendly - you can use a site called vischeck.com to see how your webpage would look. I think BT.com also have some helpful pages on palette selection too.

Also don't make your type too small or use weird font styles - those are a nightmare especially if there's a lot to read!

I used to love the old macromedia.com site before adobe got ahold of it. The adobe site is pretty ok too I guess.

    1. Absolutely no background music or sound of any kind.
    2. Avoid ads if possible, minimal banner ads if necessary, no popups.
    3. Background lighter color than the text, no background patterns
    4. Use a font that is readable rather than fancy
    5. Easy navigation - links back to the main page and any subcategories, clearly identify all links

That is my favorite looking web site at the moment. Not the one I visit most frequently.

I prefer functionality over looks. A lot of times the nice looking sites with the bells and whistles malfunction a lot.

I dont like a web site that play music either. When I surf I am usually listening to my own choice of music and when the web site starts making music, it conflicts.
