The August 1 Watchtower contains a life story by a Sister Stigers "who finished her earthly course on April 20, 2007". If you think that this cult

has suddenly re-found Jesus, forget it. How can the Watchtower publish such stories that FAIL TO MAKE ANY DIRECT REFERENCE TO

'JESUS' or 'CHRIST' whatsoever? I'm sorry to speak ill of the dead but given that this woman was of the anointed you might think she would

feel a privilege of speaking about Jesus personally ( 1 Tim 1:1,12) or AT LEAST MENTIONING HIM ONCE, for God's sake!

Very interesting article! I'd love to see a copy. They usually put Jesus in there, at least for kicks.

I haven't read that experience yet but I do find it interesting as to how in others "Jesus" or "Christ" is hardly mentioned. The "organization" gets MUCH praise though.

This was mentioned in another post, but perhaps there's an ulterior motive in the titling of the article. The word "Christ" simply means "annointed", which in turn refers to the FDS. If they had really meant "Following Jesus", they would have surely mentioned him.

They don't need to mention Jesus because slaving for for the organisation is the same as slaving for Jesus. The organisation IS Jesus.

The May 15, 2007 Watchtower has an article called "Why Meet Together?". The article is all about why we should go to the meetings. The whole thing is written as a clever spin on Jesus words found at Matthew 11:28-30, with the following subheadings such as "Come to Me", "You Who Are Toiling and Loaded Down", "My Yoke is Kindly and My Load is Light", I Am Mild-Tempered and Lowly in Heart", "You Will Find Refreshment for Your Souls." The article concludes by saying that by going to the meetings we are responding to Jesus invitation to "Come to Me"!

How nauseating can you get. The sheer audacity to equate going to the organisation is the same as going to Christ. They are truly completely out of touch with what it means to really go to Christ.

The article is a classic example of how completely deluded and out of touch the Watchtower writers are with what is going on in the congregations. They truly are living in a fantasy world if they think going to all those endless meetings 3 times a week is a light, kindly yoke and is refreshing. On the contrary, all those boring meetings so many times a week are nothing but a tiresome chore to an increasing number of JW's. The Governing Body are nothing but a bunch of heartless taskmasters who only bind up heavy loads on the backs of JW's but do nothing to budge them as they revel in their apostle-like status at Patterson, New York (Matthew 23:4). And then they have the cheek to say that sticking to their burdensome programme of organisational works is what it means to come to Christ.

Following Christ since 1914 comes down to justifying the complete lack of progress his second coming has made in bettering conditions for struggling humanity.

What exactly does "following Christ" consist of?

1.Taking magazines and books containing flip-flop opinions door to door.

2.Enduring hard lives making little money for next to no appreciation and often being criticized when you get depressed or behind in your bills.

3.Failing to provide adequately for the education of your children and presurring them to be oddballs at school.

4.Setting yourself up as a fallguy by not voting or pledging allegience or granting medical care in emergencies.

5.Plunging into a treadmill of endless boring meeting attendance and reciting the same ubiquitous scriptures while pretending the End is near over and over again.

6.Ignoring the doctrinal changes, defending the Society's lack of intelligent and compassionate stewardship of human needs and pretending any of it makes one bit of difference on planet earth.

7.Lying to yourself regarding just about everything.

It's another bait and switch, just like their convention title. They use Jesus and Christ as buzz words to hook people's attention, then slowly they start minimizing his importance.
