Did anyone ever notice that it is only JWs that use the story of Dinah's rape to be a warning for young girls to avoid 'bad association'. Most other religions focus on the reaction of her brothers (they killed the whole town) or that it was possibly two kids having sex which is bad also. But as far as I can tell it is only JWs that see it as a rape that was Dinah's fault. 'If she hadn't been hanging out with those bad people it never would have happened'. :(

No one ever went broke by blaming the victim. Many of the women mentioned in the Bible were evil and intent on ruining some man, apparently even those who didn't know that was what they intended. The others were stick figures.

There was also the rape of Tamar by her half brother, who was also a horse's a**, but Tamar's brothers took care of him if I recall correctly.

Like you, I have only heard the JW's use the story as a reason to avoid "bad association." So children of JW's need to avoid the "bad association" of JW adults to protect themselves.

JW's are not the only ones to blame the victims. It is a time honored tradition across many cultures.
