What can I say... I like the song.

Over the years I have come close to buying a house in the suburbs a few times, yet there has always been this odd little bug in the back of my mind that kept telling me not to buy a house like that. I never could quite put my finger on it until I saw this video today. Maybe I'm just not meant to live in the suburbs.

E-man ... I really like that song too. Funny how regardless of the age of some songs they become more true to life the older they get (and the more homogenized we get)

    I don't want to live in a ticky-tacky box.

The Pete Seeger song? I had it on a cassette tape with other folk songs. My kids and I loved the song. I still do. I have the MP3 on the computer here. At least I think still do. I'll have to check. Great song. Never seen the show, but love the song.

Ahhh, but what happens if maybe we are already living in a ticky-tacky box and we DON'T know it!

I live in a condo that looks like 1/2 of the other condos in the River North area. I am living the ticky-tacky box reality. The upside is that at least I have a balcony w/ a court yard view, so I can watch the other look-a-like people walk in and out of their ticky-tacky boxes. And make fun of all the local wannabes.

Found it and it's playing. I was a little, tiny girl when this kind of music was so popular. I really liked folk music and beatnicks.

I think it was written by Malvina Reynolds. Used to listen to it all the time as a kid. My parents were really into the folk scene.
