does anyone remember the society saying if you have not celebrated your wedding anniversary before why begin now...it was in some sort of manner as that. In other words if you had been celebrating your anniversary it is okay --but for newly weds, the boys in Crooklyn they were suggesting not to start the ritual.

I certainly don't remember this one ever.
I remember talking about it with the body of elders; I can't remember if it came through a letter from the big boys or what, but I remember we all blew it off and that was the only thing we rebelled against--it became a joke, like our wives would kill us if we stopped celebrating the only thing we were able to celebrate.
I believe it was around the time they started suggesting the size of wedding and wedding receptions.

I think I heard that it was a "matter of conscience". In other words, you can do it but it isn't reccommended--and if it's going to stumble someone, then definitely no.
I remember thinking if I heard that word "stumble" one more time I was going to kick the nearest elder in the shins.

In my old congo they had anniversary parties for the "elite" couples, this besides, baby/wedding showers were the only thing you could celebrate.
