Should JW give receipt when donations are given to them on the 'preaching work'?

Last week, when I gave a donation to the firemen for their calendar, they gave me a receipt.

If I remember correctly, you could get a receipt if you asked for one.

And I think they automatically give them for donations over $100.00..lol like anyone is going to give them that much out in the door to door work...

But from some reason that sticks in my mind...maybe for when you donated at the hall???

Well the only thing is, receipts are given for 501C3's, which are Non-Profit organizations.

When the average JW goes door to door, on which corporation's behalf is he soliciting funds, and is that corporation non-profit?

In other words, is he soliciting for the local chapter of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses? Is the CCJW a non-profit? Or is it the worldwide preaching work?

They have so many corporations now it's impossible to know.

I think for claiming a deduction on your taxes for charitable contributions, you should have written evidence if the amount is $250 or more.

When the "new arrangement" came out, we were encouraged in our congregation to have a separate "purse" or envelope to put the money in, instead of our pocket or wallet. Made it look more official?

Who agrees with the poster that says - any day not spent going from door to door is a good day. :)
