...is not a witness, yet states that the reason JWS have survived is because of their ability to adapt. Just like the Catholic church?

This was in response to a list of ever-changing doctrines from 100 years ago till the present day. I can see where they are implying that JWS are no different from the Catholics, but did the Catholic church change their entire doctrine and belief system? Did they change their belief in the cross, like the society did? Did they change their armed forces rule? Did they change their entire political belief?

What exactly the the Catholic church change since it's beginning? Anyone here Catholic?

I'm Catholic, the church is very slow to change, I heard about when they started allowing the Communion wafer to be placed in the hand, this wasn't well received by hard core Catholic's, as for me I always take communion on my tounge, I think JW's have changed more from their new light in the past 100 years then the Catholic's have changed in past 1,000 years.

If you want to look up more about the last major changes in the Catholic Church look up the Vatican II 1962 council. The church hasn't changed its belief in the cross, or Military service. Couple things I know they stopped doing was the prayer for Jews, and mass in Latin. Compared to JW's I don't think it would be correct to say that the changes made by the Vatican are any where close to the amount of changes the ORG made, I couldn't imagine the pope saying we don't believe in the cross anymore, that would be crazy.

Thank you, Andre. I will look this up. I need an answer for this guy, as all the witnesses on the site are agreeing with him as to the changes. I was actually baptized Catholic as a baby, but was raised a JW from 2 years old. So, I have no idea as to their doctirnes.

If anyone else knows of any changes, please tell me. Thanks...

I personally am not ready to have this discussion now....but if I was....perhaps I'd ask exactly what the term 'adapt' means.

Next step would be to compare the persons 'personal' perception of 'adapt' to a 'dictionary' definition

When we both agreed on what the term means within the context of the discussion at hand......hmmmmm......Well then we could deal with the FACTS

Get a piece of paper...Put a line down the middle...with the facts

    about both organizations.

This is probably a conversation I would have on paper.

That is a great idea. There is definitely a difference between "change completely" and "adapt." This is still not resolved, so I will do this. Thanks!

I'd have thought that the Catholic church has survived because it's very resistant to change, and people like stability.
