ebay and amazon.com

I wasn't sure where to put this thread - entertainment seems to fit. Does anyone on the forum do much ebay? I list about a dozen items a week - have been working my way through boxes and boxes of cookbooks and pink depression glass and odds and ends that gather over the years. I'm often surprised at what sells and what doesn't, but I make a little money every week and spend it on my own interests and hobbies. Most I ever sold something for was three vintage Vogue magazines for which I got $117.00. I use amazon.com to pay for my reading addiction - whatever books I buy, I generally resell on amazon.com and then have more money for books. It really cuts the cost of reading. My favorite was locating a book by a favorite author - hard to find book that I located in New Zealand. I paid $65.00 for it, read it, decided it wasn't all that special and sold it for $75.00. usually I get a little less than I spent, but it still makes reading more economical.

That's actually a great idea Hortensia- if you have the time and energy to put into it. I buy from Ebay but I've never sold also buy books a lot from Amazon when I can't find what I'm looking for here.
But that's a really good idea to recycle the books and things you've read already or are done with.

    I am an avid ebayer.

Depending upon what you want to sell, I would recomend that you try craigslist first, they are free and I have had great results using them over ebay.

I buy a lot from ebay but do not sell very much. I actually got my wedding dress there for 100 bucks and it fit great with no altering. I think I'll have to start selling. I have so much stuff that I hate to throw away but is really great stuff. I think you've inspired me.

I have been going through years' worth of crap that has accumulated, gradually selling it on ebay. I'll try craigslist too, haven't done that yet, but have an antique Chinese wedding chest that someone would have to pick up. Too expensive to ship, so the local craigslist would be great. Selling books on amazon is quite easy, a little tedious to set up the account the first time but after that, quite easy to sell books. Ebay is fun - I like watching my items, to see the bids and the number of watchers. Have mostly had good success.

How do you figure out the price to ask for a vintage item? I have some vintage books but have no idea what to ask for them. As I type this I guess I could use Google, LOL.

I've listed items on Craig's list it's pretty cool and I sure buy a lot from eBay it's time I start selling stuff if I could just get organized! darn it!
