Ok, in layman's terms . . . Can someone explain to me the technology of fax to email?

I surfed the web but only found where to buy the software and whenever I call a company they either do not know or just don't want to tell me.

    Thanks! :)

This is for home use I presume? You can't really fax in and out of email directly. You either need software (i think symantec has a fax program for this purpose) or a printer that is fax capable and comes with it's own fax software. You would need a modem if you just use the software option and the printer will have it's own modem that you plug into your phone line.

Some fax software may have the option to deliver it to your inbox otherwise it would just open up a recieved fax on your desktop.

or you could use a fax service as per WAC Does that require a subscription or something though?

Thanks for the responses. I'm not sure what I need here or at least how to get it.

What I want is a program that will allow me to set up multiple accounts and each account able to receive fax information and stored in a file. I guess I knew or at least had an idea how it works. But can any of you recommend a software program?

I'm so tired right now . . . so I may be repeating myself or just not making sense. Thanks again.

do you need fax to email specifically, or can you just use something like windows built in fax console.

if you just need to fax or receive faxes ---you'll have to have the computer connected to you land line to do it, you have to install the fax component service in xp, then if you're faxing, when you print, select fax instead of print and dial the number.

if you need to receive faxes you open the console.

it should be in the help section if it's xp or similar. MAC, i couldn't tell ya.

but i use the fax option all the time to fax out and i don't need to receive faxes.
